Founded in 1860, Curtis Park boasts the distinction of being the oldest neighborhood in Denver. Located on the southeast border of Denver's downtown district and sharing its northern border with the vibrant Riverside North (RiNo) District, Curtis Park offers a prime location just a few minutes' walk from the heart of downtown Denver.
In its early days, Curtis Park was home to only an estimated 5,000 residents, many of whom were drawn to the area in search of gold and used it as a basecamp for mountain expeditions. By 1890, Curtis Park had evolved into downtown Denver's first suburb, strategically positioned near railroads and the city's inaugural streetcar line. With the city's growth and economic development, affluent residents eventually migrated from Curtis Park to the Capitol Hill neighborhood. In 1970, the city of Denver embarked on a mission to preserve the remaining homes by designating them as historic landmarks.
Today, the Curtis Park neighborhood seamlessly blends the charm of its preserved original historic homes with newly-constructed Victorian mansions, duplexes, and townhomes. This new construction pays homage to the area's rich history and represents a resurgence of the development that took place 160 years ago. Residents of Curtis Park enjoy a plethora of amenities, including access to RiNo's eclectic shopping district, craft breweries, shared workspaces, downtown Denver's iconic 16th Street Mall, Uptown's array of restaurants and bars, and close proximity to Coors Stadium.
